BBC RADIO MANCHESTER SPORT

IMG_6865.jpg

I spent two weeks on work placement at BBC Radio Manchester Sport in November 2019.

During my time at BBC Radio Manchester, I created my own material which went out on air. I gathered material myself and edited clips for bulletins and programmes. As well, I helped organise phone-calls for the Manchester United and Manchester City discussion show Talking Balls, which aired every week night.

Interviewed Salford City manager Graham Alexander, Oldham Atletic manager Dino Maamria as well as Manchester United Women manager Casey Stoney and player Amy Turner.

I made goal montages as well as montages for Talking Balls.
I ended the placement at the DW Stadium, shadowing Anthony Wearing summarising the game between Wigan and Reading.

Written reference from Sports Editor Bill Rice

"Lars was proactive in pitching ideas and content for our radio programmes in meetings, and utilised his contacts to conduct interviews which were broadcast on air during his time with us, for example an interview he did with a former City goalkeeper about his time in the academy at the club about how difficult it is to graduate from the youth setup into the first team squad.

"Lars demonstrated a good knowledge of what makes a good story, and delivered content which was interesting and well made. He was hard working and keen to learn throughout, and we had no hesitation sending him out to interview several of our local managers to gather material which he then edited for bulletins and programmes."
